Rated 2 out of 5??by Canadian12 Toro's poorest design
While I am very satisfied with my Toro lawn mower, the trimmer's spool was extremely difficult to replace and after 2 years of usage the cap no longer can be opened. I have to buy a new trimmer because the spool is empty.

What a disappointment! They've designed it so you can't easily remove the cap to install new string, so you end up buying a new one -- ingenious piece of marketing! I'll never buy a Toro again!

The first time I used this the neighbors came out of their houses to see what all the noise was about! Wont even care if this thing breaks down before the warranty runs out! This should come with ear noise protection.

I bought this and hoping it was as good as my old Toro (from 1984) This one, the motor burned out, with smoke after just a couple of years using it. I think it had a defective motor, but it was out of warranty. If you are going to buy a Toro, go to an upgraded model.

Rated 1 out of 5??by JLSmith String handling makes this model unusable.
I purchased the 11" Toro string trimmer model 106-6485 last year to replace a non-Toro trimmer that I had used for 14 years. The Toro, which I bought new and in a sealed box, failed to advance the string after less than 15 minutes of use. The string in the spool, as it came from the factory, had become tangled in such a way that I had to remove all of the string and rewind it. Since then, in less than 2 hours of actual use, it has happened numerous times. I've had to remove the spool each time and either manually retrieve the end of the string or else rewind it entirely. I used it this morning for the first time this season and had so much trouble that I gave up before finishing and will need to purchase a new trimmer from someone else. And my yard is very small, so the trimmer isn't being stressed at all.
I've been using lawn equipment for more than 40 years and am mechanically savvy, so I don't think it's user error. This just seems like a poor design.

Wante something lightweight and easy to use for light weedeating. I have a very heavyduty gas powered trimmer, one that can cut down small trees, but wanted one for lighter jobs. This fit the bill perfectly.
