Rated 5 out of 5??by ReluctantGardener Great Trimmer
Very happy with this trimmer. So much so, that we got a second one - "his" and "hers" to avoid sharing.

Rated 5 out of 5??by NoTrimmingInSnow perfect for home
very convenient string trimmer. Electric is not a problem on our lot. Plenty of power and no need to worry about battery charge. Convenient edger mode will allow us to edge every time we clean up the yard. Read that it will use less line if you use it on constant run instead of pulsing. Seems to be working great.
two year warranty
Fairy new yet so have not needed to replace line to see how easily that can be accomplished.

Rated 5 out of 5??by Glen51 Powerful unit
Great trimmer. Much heavier duty than previous trimmers I have owned. Almost feels like industrial/commercial quality (with a bit of a weight price to go along, so I graded ease of use as good). Excellent product and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5??by dougieg like the edger wheel that guides the trimmer
Enjoying this new unit and still having my problems with the line feed.....I must be doing something wrong? The design for edging is very good and like the way the wheel guides the cut lines in order to have a straight looking edge.

Rated 4 out of 5??by Hutch This product is easy to use.
The only real problem I've had is that the string is wound too tight and I've had some issue with it not feeding as advertised. I've had to stop and pull the string out while pushing down on the spool cover. Fortunately with the safety switch I can do this without unplugging the trimmer.

Rated 3 out of 5??by Killian62 The Toro product line are affordable and dependable
The toro line of products are very dependable, I own several, but I find my new weed eater is awkward to use. I do not like the fact that you have to pull a button and squeeze a trigger to power it up, very uncomfortable. The overall design is fine could be a little lighter in weight, and the front metal guard does not allow you to get close to narrow areas, luckily it can be removed. I think it is a good machine and is priced right, just needs a few tweaks to make it better.

Rated 2 out of 5??by Dissatified Bad string advancement
The trimmer is a big disappointment to me as I had not purchased a new string trimmer in over 10 years. I was looking forward to a trimmer that worked really well. I did a lot of research on the internet and decided on this trimmer. The big problem I have is with the string advancement. To advance the string, you need to release the trigger to stop the trimmer and when you do, the string will advance but only about one quarter of an inch, this is according to the manual. This quarter of an inch is nothing and so when I need to advance it, which is often because the string is so thin, I have to stop and turn the trimmer on and off many times, which takes time and it takes me so much longer to complete my yard. Maybe if the string were thicker, it would not have to be advanced so often.

Rated 2 out of 5??by N7470 Did not work out for me
Bought the 51480 in June 2013. Used it approximately 5 times till September 2013. Stored in the garage from September 2013 - May 2014. Tried using it on May 2014 unit was dead. Toro sent a replacement unit as it was till under warranty. Sold the replacement unit. Check a leading Consumer Magazine that lists this model to avoid because of unwieldy handling which I totally agree.
