Advantages of Aerification
The principal function of aerification is to relieve soil compaction, layering and thatch accumulation. There is also the improved water infiltration rate resulting from the aerification practice.
 |
 |
 |
| Aerification:
Physically loosens compacted soil
Improves gas exchange (CO2, O2) in the root zone (aeration)
Improves drainage
Mixes soil with thatch to increase decomposition
Breaks up & speeds decomposition of organic matter in the root zone
Stimulates root growth
Aids in overseeding, sodding & renovation
Allows long term modification of soil composition in the root zone when done in combination with topdressing
Aids in the management of hydrophobic soils and localized dry spots
