Installation of Tail Pipe Extension Kit and/or Bulkhead Fitting Update Kit
Situation:
In an ongoing effort to eliminate potential ignition sources of fuel on Toro Z Master 100 Series units, we have designed and tested a crossover tail pipe that relocates the muffler outlet to a new position. While the spark arrester has alleviated refueling fires this year, we have determined that an "after bang" or "backfire" usually occurring on shut down of the unit, can also be an ignition source of fuel vapors, with or without the spark arrester.
Correction:
CROSSOVER TAIL PIPE MANDATORY SAFETY REWORK: A mandatory safety rework campaign to retrofit all Toro Z Master 100 Series units in the field with the crossover tail pipe is being implemented. Attached you will find a copy of the customer letter that will be sent out five days after this bulletin has been mailed. We have also attached a copy of the installation instructions.
KAWASAKI VENT TUBE RELOCATION: The kit will also include the components needed to relocate the carburetor vent tube on some engine models.
GROMMET INSPECTION PROGRAM for All 100 and 200 Series Z Masters: We will also request that the fuel tank grommets be inspected for signs of leakage, seepage or weather cracking. If any of these conditions are found, the unit will need to be updated with bulkhead fittings (see attached instructions.)
